Choice Project: Final Exam Draw/Paint 1
Project Summary: This project is creation part (part 1) of the draw/paint 1 final exam for the year. Students will create a project that will showcase the skills they have learning in art all year. Each will get to choose the medium, size, and project purpose that they feel will best illustrate how they have grown as an artist this year. Each is in charge of organizing their own planning process, reflection, critique, and presentation. The presentation part of the Exam will take place on the day of the actual final.

COLOR THEORY PROJECT:
Project Summary: Each Student will create a series of artwork that includes 6 individual pieces which work together to form one body of work. Each piece must follow the 6 different color schemes studied. Students will have to critically think about medium, color schemes, arrangement, composition and individuality.
Purpose: Students will be able to demonstrate an understanding of color theory and how to apply it in an art piece through the creation of 6 artist trading cards showing 6 specific color schemes.

Project 8: Scratch Board:
Project Summary: Each student will create a work of art containing a subject noone has ever seen before. This original designed object or creature will contain elaborate textures, innovative machinery and showcase the student's ability to create a convincing real object/creature from scratch. This project takes planning, composition, creativity, and a strong ability to problem solve.
Purpose: Each work should showcase something never seen on this earth before! The detail and textures of which should convince the audience that the creature/object could actually exist.

PROJECT 7; White Charcoal; Scientific Drawings
Project Summary: Using white charcoal students will verify a scientific fact that is not yet common knowledge. Each will create a work of art that aims to reveal this fact within an image. Key objectives of this project include figurative and literal representative imagery, inverse thinking, creative planning and overall aesthetic appeal.
Purpose: The intention of these works is to illustrate a scientific fact in a creative, original way. We studies scientific artists as well as artist who use science, physics and mathematical concepts to make their work stronger.

Project 6;Self Portraits:
Project Summary: Using charcoal students study human facial proportions in order to capture their own faces through realism. Additionally each will attempt to capture his or her personalities within their self portrait. This project requires patience, planning, and persistence.

SEMESTER 1 FINAL:
PART 1: Vocabulary Test (10 min)
Students will complete a vocabulary quiz on the elements and principles from semester one.
PART 2:
1. Watch a short film
2. Each will create an artwork demonstrating his of her reaction.
Student will gain more point the more artist knowledge he or she demonstrates; such as:
-Creating a STRONG, CLEAR focal
-Shading parts of their work using different techniques.
-Creative/advanced use of colors
-Visually Balanced composition according to SHAPE< VALUES< FORMS< ETC.
3. Students will fill out an artist statement explaining his or her choices and TAPE it to the back of their FRAMED artwork.
Project 5;PERSPECTIVES , ARCHITECHTURE and SHADING, :
PURPOSE:

2 Point Perspective: SummaryThese drawings are students first attempts and realism based on observation of architecture and 3 dimensional forms. They had to execute a correct vanishing point, horizon line, and correct perspective all while including visual clues for the viewer. For the duration of the project students were asked to incorporate drawing and shading challenges. Each includes the challenge in his or her own artistic style. We explored controversial issues where students had to defend their choices a well as find a way to visually represent each.

Project 4;Positive/Negative Space:
PURPOSE: This work's intention is to illustrate an OPINION the artist's holds about the world. Students explored the concepts of SPACE and EMPHASIS by playing with positive as well as negative space. This is a challenging technique which demands students literally flip the way they think about and draw the visual world.

Project 1; Zentangles
Project Objective: The intent of this project is to learn to enjoy the process of creation. The end results are beautiful because the process was full of appreciation, artistic meditation and collaborative thinking. Each Zentangle is unique like its creator and each has its own creative style to add to the artistic world.

This project is intended to capture where each student's level of drawing is BEFORE any instruction. This project captures students current planning process, current drawing ability, current writing skills and how well each critical thinks through what he or she sees within another's artwork.
